Meet Kathleen Brown, the VA & TN Principal Real Estate Broker at Highlands Realty, Inc. in Abingdon, VA. Her husband, Frank Brown, is the Real Estate Broker at the Highlands Realty Bristol, VA office. Having two offices allows agents and clients to meet conveniently in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Our office managers, marketing manager, and transaction coordinators helped our 25 agents close over 350 real estate transactions in 2019.
Kathleen’s background is in Speech Pathology. She holds a master’s degree in Education specializing in speech and language therapy. She worked in the public schools for many years, but when it was time for a change decided to work as Frank’s personal assistant at his real estate office. She fell in love with real estate and immediately obtained her real estate license and then, after 3 years, her Broker’s license. This allowed her to use her teaching skills to help other agents learn the ropes because obtaining a real estate license provides a basic understanding of law, real estate math and definitions, but does not prepare a person for successfully serving as a great agent. Therefore, Kathleen’s focus at Highlands Realty is on training and coaching agents about contracts, the ever-changing laws, the latest technology, and how to provide exemplary service to their clients who probably only buy and sell properties a few times throughout their lives. Buyers and sellers rely on their agents to teach them and guide them through the process.
Kathleen also enjoys keeping tabs on the local real estate market and making sure the agents at Highlands Realty have the market stats at their fingertips so they can be good advisors to their clients. It takes a supportive and knowledgeable agent to navigate a real estate transaction smoothly!
