As one of the longest-running festivals in Virginia held in a State Park, the Hungry Mother Festival promotes arts, live music, local food, and family fun. We were proud to be a sponsor for the 48th Annual Hungry Mother Festival in Marion, VA this past weekend and looking forward to being a part of it next year.
Hungry Mother Festival History
The first Hungry Mother Arts and Crafts Festival was held in July 1974. The festival grew from approximately 12,000 visitors in 1976 to almost 25,000 in 2005. The three-day event continues to attract a large audience, including a mix of locals and visitors of the region. The festival is made possible thanks to the Art League of Marion along with the cooperation with the Virginia Department of Parks and Recreation.
The Hungry Mother Festival has received statewide recognition over the years, making it a highlight of many people’s summer for family-friendly fun. The event is always held on the third weekend in July, and a shuttle often provides free transportation from Downtown Marion to the park during the festival.
